On the 7th July 2025 I went live on Youtube with my Stocks Swing Trading Pick of the week. I used the confluence scanner on the xBrat® Stocks Predator and selected $CX (CEMEX). The original anlysis video is below and worth a watch to see how I put this Stocks Swing Trading Position together. Then below the video are inserts from my trading journal that I put together during the trade within the stocks predator dashboard and then shared with our closed community forum of users.

05 Jul 2025 – My Stock Pick of the Week

This week, I chose $CX (CEMEX) as my stock pick, and I’m feeling optimistic about the setup. The confluence is coming together nicely as the price is attempting to break a recent high and a key weekly support and resistance (S&R) zone. My entry plan is sensible, around $7.41, once the price clears the weekly zone. However, I’m mindful of potential gaps since this is a Mexican stock listed on a U.S. exchange, which can lead to some volatility. To mitigate risk, I’ll keep a close eye on the pre-market action and ensure my stop market order is in place. My initial target is set at $9, which feels achievable given the technical setup. Let’s see how this plays out!

18 Jul 2025 – Bullish Momentum Kicks In

Since entering this trade, the price has been hovering around my entry point, testing my patience. But yesterday, $CX finally made a strong bullish move, closing near the highs of the day. This is the kind of momentum I was waiting for!

I’m aware that earnings are coming up on July 24, but I’ve decided to hold through earnings. This is a relatively inexpensive stock, and I’m comfortable riding out any bearish reactions if they occur. To make this decision easier, I’ve already closed my $BX trade, which was in a profitable position, ahead of its earnings on the same date. This allows me to focus on $CX with a clear mind. Feeling good about this one!

12 Aug 2025 – Trailing Stop in Place

After a recent pullback, $CX is now testing its recent highs. This is a great opportunity to lock in some profits while still giving the trade room to breathe. I’ve set a trailing stop at $8.17, which aligns with the RC trailing stop and sits just below the low of the recent pivot from the pullback.

As always, I’m removing the stop before the market opens each day and placing it again once trading begins to avoid any unnecessary gaps. This disciplined approach is keeping me in control of the trade. The setup still looks strong, and I’m optimistic about the next move.

18 Aug 2025 – Tightening the Trailing Stop

The price action has been favorable, and I’m now being more aggressive with my trailing stop to lock in additional profits. I’ve moved it up to $8.31, ensuring it’s only active once the trading session is open. This adjustment reflects the recent price action and keeps me in line with the RC trailing stop strategy. I’m feeling confident about this trade and the progress it’s making.

21 Aug 2025 – Ultra Aggressive Trailing Stop

With $CX continuing to perform well, I’ve decided to tighten my trailing stop even further. It’s now set at $8.40, just under the very recent pivot and in line with the RC trailing stop position. Again, I’m only placing the stop once the market opens to avoid any unnecessary gaps. This ultra-aggressive approach ensures I’m locking in as much profit as possible while still allowing the trade to play out.

24 Aug 2025 – Target Hit and Position Closed

Success! On Friday, $CX hit my target of $9.04, and I closed the position as planned. No emotions, no second-guessing—just a disciplined exit at my target. This trade delivered a solid 21.5% move between the weekly support and resistance zones.

There are too many unknowns to justify holding on and hoping for a push through the weekly resistance above. It’s better to take the win and free up capital for the next trade with fresh confluence and opportunity. This was a textbook swing trade, and I’m proud of how I managed it. On to the next one!

Reflection

This trade was a fantastic example of how confluence, discipline, and market awareness can come together to create a successful swing trade. The broader market sentiment during this period was cautiously optimistic, with the S&P 500 showing steady gains and a general risk-on environment favoring cyclical stocks like $CX. The materials sector, in particular, was benefiting from increased infrastructure spending and a rebound in global construction activity, which provided a supportive backdrop for this trade. Understanding these macro and sector-level dynamics gave me the confidence to hold through periods of consolidation and even through earnings.

The importance of confluence cannot be overstated. As I discuss in my book, “Confluence, Not Coincidence”, successful trading is rarely about a single indicator or signal. It’s about the alignment of multiple factors—price action, support and resistance levels, sector strength, and broader market sentiment. In this trade, the confluence of a breakout above a key weekly zone, strong sector performance, and a favorable market environment all pointed to a high-probability setup. This alignment gave me the conviction to stick to my plan and manage the trade with confidence.

Another Key Takeaway

Another key takeaway from this trade was the importance of disciplined execution. By setting clear entry and exit points, using trailing stops effectively, and avoiding emotional decision-making, I was able to lock in a 21.5% gain. This trade also reinforced the value of flexibility, adjusting my trailing stops as the trade progressed allowed me to protect profits while still giving the trade room to breathe.

Finally, this trade highlighted the importance of capital allocation and risk management. By closing my $CX trade ahead of its earnings, I was able to focus fully on $CX without being overexposed to earnings-related volatility. This decision not only reduced my overall risk but also allowed me to approach the $CX trade with a clear and focused mindset.

In summary, this was a textbook swing trade that showcased the power of confluence, the importance of understanding market and sector dynamics, and the value of disciplined execution. It’s trades like these that remind me why I love swing trading and why I’m so passionate about sharing these principles with others. On to the next opportunity!
