Weekly Trading Room Review: Discipline, Confluence and the Power of Community

Paul Bratby Posted by Paul Bratby in Day Trading Room 9 min read

In the world of day trading, the difference between an amateur and a professional often comes down to one specific skill: the ability to switch gears. Some days require aggressive action to capitalize on momentum, while others demand the discipline to sit on your hands and protect your capital. This weekly Trading Room Review says it all!

The trading week commencing February 9th in the xBrat Inner Circle Day Trading Room was a perfect case study in this duality. It was a week of contrasts, strong impulsive moves on Monday and Thursday, sandwiched between days of flat markets and necessary patience.

If you are looking to understand how a professional trading room operates, this review will walk you through our thought process. We will break down the specific setups we took on futures and forex, discuss the importance of correlation strategies, and highlight why sometimes the best trade is the one you don’t take.

The Reality of Professional Trading

Many new traders operate under the false assumption that profitable trading requires being in the market 24/7. They believe that if the charts are open, they should be clicking buttons. However, our review of this past week proves that success comes from selectivity.

This week, we utilized our “Huddle”, our live trading session where I share my screen and trade in real-time, to not only execute trades but to educate our members on market conditions. We saw everything from automated support and resistance zone breakouts to range trading on oil, all while managing risk across multiple accounts, including funded trader accounts.

Let’s dive into the day-by-day breakdown to see how the week unfolded.

Monday: Momentum and The Huddle

We started the week strong with high engagement in the live Huddle. For those who haven’t joined us yet, the Huddle is designed to be transparent. I share my screen, my charts, and my thought process live. We also maintain an active chat for those who cannot watch the video stream, ensuring that members can follow the trade logic even if they are at work or on the go.

Monday provided excellent conditions for our confluence strategies.

Capitalizing on Confluence: The 6C and 6J Trades

One of the core strategies we teach in the Inner Circle involves identifying “confluence.” This occurs when support or resistance zones from different timeframes overlap, creating a high-probability area for price action.

On Monday, we identified a prime setup on 6C (Canadian Dollar Futures). Our automated support and resistance zones highlighted a potential breakout through a confluence of 30-minute and 60-minute zones. When multiple timeframes agree on a key level, the likelihood of a successful breakout increases significantly. We placed our order at the breakout point and let the market do the rest.

Simultaneously, we were watching 6J (Japanese Yen Futures). The setup here was similar, allowing us to enter a long position. Managing multiple positions requires focus, but it also allows for diversification. By the time the momentum kicked in, we were long on both 6C and 6J, and we even had a pending order for 6B (British Pound Futures).

The Power of Asset Correlation

A unique advantage of our trading room is our multi-asset approach. We trade Futures, Forex, and Crypto, often using one to inform the other.

On Monday, while we were long the Japanese Yen futures (6J), we utilized that data to take a corresponding position in the Forex market. Since currency futures often move inversely or in parallel to spot forex pairs (depending on the pair), we entered a short position on USD/JPY and GBP/JPY.

This is a strategy many retail traders overlook. If you see strength in the Yen futures contract, it mathematically suggests weakness in pairs where the Yen is the quote currency (like USD/JPY). By trading both, we maximized our exposure to the Yen’s strength across different accounts.

The result? A combined profit of over $1,000 on the futures side, alongside healthy profits on the Forex pairs. We moved stops to risk-free positions quickly, locking in gains and letting the runners run.

Tuesday & Wednesday: The Discipline of Patience

If Monday was about aggression, Tuesday and Wednesday were about defense.

Tuesday: Kissing Frogs

Tuesday resulted in a flat, break-even day. We describe this type of price action as “kissing frogs.” You take a valid setup, but it doesn’t transform into a prince; it just chops around.

The key here is risk management. When we noticed that the trades weren’t catching momentum, we aggressively adjusted our stops to break-even. We didn’t hope for a turnaround; we reacted to the data. While we didn’t make significant profit, more importantly, we didn’t lose capital. We preserved our Monday gains.

Wednesday: The “No Trade” Day

Wednesday was perhaps the most important day of the week for educational purposes. We declared a “No Trade” day.

Why? Because none of our strict rules were met. The volume was low, the setups were messy, and the risk-reward ratio simply wasn’t there. In the Huddle, we looked for opportunities, but a professional trader knows that forcing a trade out of boredom is the quickest way to empty an account.

It takes immense discipline to sit in front of screens for two hours and do nothing. However, staying “risk off” meant we entered Thursday with our capital and our mental capital fully intact.

Thursday: Capitalizing on the Breakout

The patience displayed on Wednesday paid off immediately on Thursday. The markets woke up, and because we hadn’t suffered losses the previous day, we were ready to strike.

Inverse Correlations with the Swiss Franc

We started with a setup on 6S (Swiss Franc Futures). Similar to Monday, we used our stock market order strategy to trade through a breakthrough of support and resistance.

Validating our earlier discussion on correlation, at the exact same time we went long on 6S, we went short on USD/CHF in our Forex accounts. The inverse correlation here is strong. If the Swiss Franc futures are going up, the US Dollar vs. Swiss Franc pair is likely going down.

We executed these trades across multiple accounts, including “real money” brokerage accounts and funded trader accounts. This demonstrates that our strategies are scalable regardless of the account size or type you are trading.

Precision Targeting: Euro/JPY and Micro Oil

Thursday kept giving. We engaged a EUR/JPY trade that moved rapidly.

One of our members, Richard, perfectly illustrated the value of our proprietary tools during this trade. He identified a target based on a previous pivot point and held the trade until it hit. This highlights a crucial lesson: Plan the trade, trade the plan. When you have confidence in your support and resistance zones, you don’t exit early out of fear. You let the price hit the target.

We also took a short position on MCL (Micro Crude Oil) using a range breakout strategy at the oil pit open. We identified a breakdown below a previous pivot and set a target at a confluence zone of 240-minute and 60-minute support.

The trade played out like a textbook example. We entered short, adjusted the stop to risk-free once momentum was confirmed, and rode the price down to the support zone.

Member Success Spotlight: The $5,200 Platinum Trade

While my personal trades are shared live, nothing makes me happier than seeing our members succeed independently using the strategies we teach.

On Thursday, one member utilized our breakout strategy on Platinum. He managed his stops perfectly, locking in profit as the move extended. By the time he closed the position, he had secured a massive $5,200 profit.

This reinforces that the Expert Inner Circle isn’t just a signal service; it is a mentorship program. We provide the tools and the education so you can spot these opportunities yourself, even on assets I might not be actively watching at that moment.

Friday: Protecting the Green

After a highly profitable Thursday, we headed into Friday with a specific mindset: protect the week.

Friday turned out to be a quiet day. While one member managed to snag a good confluence trade on RTY (Russell 2000), the general market conditions were neutral.

The Correlation Meter Filter

How did we know to stay out? We utilized our Correlation Meter for the indexes. This tool acts as a barometer for market sentiment. On Friday, the meter showed a neutral reading, as shown in the video above.

When the indexes are neutral, it means there is no clear direction. Trading in this environment is akin to gambling. Since we had already banked significant profits on Monday and Thursday, there was absolutely no reason to risk “giving back the green” on low-probability setups.

We wrapped up the week early, satisfied with the profits secured and the losses avoided.

The Value of the xBrat Inner Circle

This week’s review illustrates exactly what we offer in the Expert Inner Circle Day Trading Room. It is not just about calling out buy or sell numbers. It is about a holistic approach to the markets.

Real-Time Mentorship and Tools

Our members have access to the same institutional-grade tools I use, mainly the automated multi-timeframe support and resistance zones for TradingView and NinjaTrader. These tools take the guesswork out of drawing lines on charts, allowing you to focus on execution and strategy.

Furthermore, the “Huddle” provides a level of transparency rarely seen in this industry. You see the wins, the break-even adjustments, and the discipline of no-trade days. You learn how to manage fear and greed in real-time.

A Global Community

Perhaps the strongest asset we have is the community itself. We have traders joining us from the West Coast and East Coast of the USA, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Asia.

This creates a “round-the-clock” environment. Even when I am offline, members are sharing charts, discussing setups, and celebrating wins in the chat. It is a supportive ecosystem where seasoned traders help newcomers, and everyone works toward the common goal of consistent profitability.

Weekly Trading Room Review Conclusion

The week commencing February 9th was a testament to the power of a complete trading system. We used confluence to find high-probability entries, correlation to maximize returns across Futures and Forex, and discipline to avoid losses during choppy market conditions.

We traded the breakout on the Canadian Dollar, shorted the Yen pairs, capitalized on the Swiss Franc, and navigated the Oil pits—all while avoiding the traps of Wednesday’s flat market.

If you are tired of trading alone, or if you are struggling to find consistency in your results, it might be time to change your environment. Trading does not have to be a solitary struggle. By joining a community of like-minded professionals, you gain access to the strategies, tools, and support necessary to elevate your trading career.
